RIP Ryan Dunn

1977-2011
We are starting this week off with some sad news. Ryan Dunn of Jackass fame was killed in a brutal car crash this morning at 3 a.m. His Porsche flew through 40 yards of trees before blowing up and burning into something that does not resemble a car. Another body was found and is still unidentifiable, and Dunn was only identified by his tattoos.

I never want to jump to conclusions here, but Dunn Twittered a picture of himself drinking with friends hours before the crash, as he was celebrating a late birthday. Last week was a busy week for him, as Jackass 3.5 was released on DVD, he appeared on the show Minute-to-Win-It alongside (27 months-sober) Steve-O, and he just began a new Mythbusters-ish show on G4.

People have been saying for years they wouldn't be surprised to see a Jackass member dead. Steve-O and Bam both nearly died to drug overdoses. But Ryan Dunn always seemed like the one most grounded in reality. Sure, there was that time he almost killed Johnny Knoxville in a golf cart, but he was always the most normal and perhaps the most likable member. He was also the most famous of the crew, as far as non-Jackass things went, after the show ended.

So remember kids, Dunn didn't die doing a Jackassy thing. He died the same way that hundreds of normal people die each day. Be careful out there.

Thor ... A Flop?

The day was indeed a good one for Loki the Trickster

Thor finished the weekend number one at the box office, earning $66 million on 4000 screens. I'm sure many people will look at that number and say how can that be bad. And yes, there is no need to panic just yet. However, this is not at all a good sign for this great movie, nor is it for the future of comic movies in general.

First off, 5 Fast 5 Furious was number two at $32 million. In its opening weekend, it made $83 million, and it made another $30 mil during the week already putting it at $140 million. At this rate, Thor will struggle to make that by its third weekend. Also, Something Broom and Jumping the Borrowed each made $13 million for some unknown reason. It is a sad world.
